Rally Tour Of Flanders 2005 - Home
The Tour of Flanders is based in the town of Roeselare in Belgium. This years rally had torrential rain before the start and during the first day of the rally which led to numerous accidents amongst the competitors. Of the 70 starters in the historics only 44 finished. The route of the rally is compact being an all tarmac rally with long straights and 90 degree bends. A large amount of power with good brakes gave a distinct advantage to the competitors.Although at the start of the rally the wet conditions called for a cautious approach. Not always the case on stage 1 where a huge accident involving car 239 the mk1 Escort of Chris/Neil Parsons. The compact route was acheived by multiple use of the stages between 3 or 4 times. The actual town of Roeselare did not impress and appeared unremarkable the rally was situated on a bypass to the town. Parking to gain access to the service area was difficult, cars were left near the entrance anywhere.
