Rally Germany 2006 - Overview
The First leg took place in the area surrounding the Mosel valley on tarmac/concrete roads through the vineyards and fields. The Second leg took place in the Baumholder military ranges. These roads are used in part to train tank drivers and have concrete blocks alongside the road to concentrate their minds. These concrete blocks do not move if hit by a rally car are unforgiving and have in the past inflicted huge amounts of damage on any car unfortunate enough to make contact with them, as we saw Gronholm do in 2004.The last leg is quite short on Sunday and this year the teams were under pressure to pack up in order that they could catch the ferry to Finland on Monday for the following weeks rally.![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
