Guy Wilks, a reference in the WRC on the grid in Ypres
A first for the Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 in the IRC

The list of participants of the Belgium Ypres Rally is becoming more attractive by the day. The Flemish organisors just received the entry form of the official Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 which will celebrate its debut in the IRC in Belgium. And that will not go unnoticed as the Malays have put their trust in Guy Wilks, the British driver who has shown his metal already in the WRC.

For four years, Wilks was one of the references in the side categories of the WRC. Winning five times in Junior WRC and once in Production WRC, he became Junior vice-worldchampion in 2005 at the wheel of the work's Suzuki Ignis Super 1600. He also has quite some experience with 4WD cars as he won the British Rally Championship in 2007 and 2008 with his Mitsubishi Lancer.

He already raced the Proton Satria Super 2000 in April at the Pirelli Rally, the first leg of the British Rally Championship. He was going for the win but had to withdraw from the race due to a fire. Prior to that, we saw the sporty hatchback tuned by MEM (Mellors Elliott Motorsport) at work at the Rally of Antibes last year with Brian Bouffier. In February, the car also participated to the Irish leg of the WRC with Niall McShea behind the wheel. It goes without saying that the Wilks-Proton tandem is geared up to challenges the top drivers in the IRC here on 19 and 20 June in the Ypres region.
