SYMTECH RACING WINS DEBUT RALLY!
The new Belgium-based Symtech Racing team has won its very first event: the Elmot Rally in Poland, which is the opening round of the Polish Rally Championship!

Symtech Racing has been chosen to run the official car for Subaru Poland, driven by Polish driver Kajetan Kajetanowicz and co-driven by Jacek Rathe. The car is Symtech Racing's own self-built Group N Subaru Impreza WRX STi STR09, which incorporates all the latest 2009 Group N technology.

The Symtech Racing Subaru had a troublefree weekend

Despite only testing for two days before the start of the rally, the Symtech Subaru allowed Kajetanowicz to beat some extremely tough opposition, including the official Peugeot Poland driver Tomasz Kuchar, and the actual leader of the European Rally Championship Michal Solowow, both with a competitive Peugeot 207 S2000.

Whilst the latest generation of Super 2000 cars have proved a dominant force on asphalt in the past, Kajetanowicz was able to reverse the trend by fighting for the lead on the sealed-surface Elmot Rally from the very beginning.

After an excellent battle with Kuchar throughout the opening leg, Kajetanowicz took the lead with just one stage to go before the overnight halt on Friday. However, a puncture on the final stage of the leg meant that the Subaru driver dropped back to second.

He started day two determined to move back up the order, but Kuchar put up a spirited fight and so the lead changed hands several times. In the end though, the Subaru Poland driver managed to claim a memorable and hard-fought victory by 14.8 seconds, as well as the provisional lead of the Polish Rally Championship!

Throughout the two days of the event, the Symtech Racing car did not encounter the slightest mechanical problem, marking a dream debut with Kajetanowicz in the Polish Rally Championship.

Great performance from "Kajto" with his Symtech Racing Subaru against the Super 2000

Kajetanowicz, the runner-up in the Polish Rally Championship last year, commented: "It's been an unbelievable couple of days! To be honest, my objective at the start of the rally was just to learn the car, get to the finish, and hopefully score some points. But in the end, although I did not have a lot of testing, I found enough confidence to push hard and fight for the win. I'd like to thank the Symtech Racing guys for building such a great car, as this is the perfect way to begin our partnership, and Subaru Poland for their continued support."

Wim De Boeck, the co-owner of Symtech Racing, concluded: "What a fantastic weekend! This is the best proof yet that our self-built cars are not only reliable but also extremely competitive. Beating the Super 2000 cars on asphalt is a really tough job, so you need a great car and a great driver to do it. We have both, so I am sure that this is only the beginning of our success in Poland. The competition in Poland is at a very high level, so this makes our victory here even sweeter. Congratulations to Kajetan and Jacek : for us this victory is the best way to thank Subaru Poland for the faith they have placed in us. We are already looking forward to the next event now!"

The next round of the Polish Rally Championship is the Lotos Rally, from 5 till 7 June.
