Conquering the carbon footprint
In an effort to help reduce the carbon footprint M-Sport will be introducing a more ecologically friendly means of service park transport during this weekend’s final round of the FIA World Rally Championship – Wales Rally GB.

SCOTT Sports UK – personal sponsor of Stobart VK M-Sport Ford driver Matthew Wilson – have kindly supplied four personalised SPORTSTER P2 sporting/commuting style bikes for team use during Rally GB and the 2009 season.

With M-Sport searching for a practical solution to reduce carbon emissions the switch to SCOTT bikes is the perfect answer with the brand tried and tested by Wilson and co-driver Scott Martin during their mammoth end2end charity cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats earlier this year.

Two of the bikes have been branded with the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team logo while the other two have been stickered up to incorporate the Stobart livery as they help the team to cut down on unnecessary vehicle usage during events.

With the team normally using petrol powered scooters to transport engineers and co-drivers to and from Service Park time-controls this will be a rewarding change as the squad looks to do its part for the benefit of the environment.

The SPORTSER shows up as the perfect all-around option with a sporty framework design and fast 700C wheel-set, it feels good on both, asphalt roads and on forest-trails and is the ideal transport solution within busy WRC Service Parks.

This move to pedal-powered transport also comes in line with the Stobart Group’s policy of reducing waste in the transport industry and working on greener ways of multimodal logistics and transportation.
