Stobart duo offer guidance to Britain’s rising rally stars
Stobart VK M-Sport Ford rally team competitors Matthew Wilson and Scott Martin took time away from their busy FIA World Rally Championship schedule to offer competition coaching to the MSA British Rally Elite yesterday in the English midlands.

Wilson and Martin are former members of the MSA-backed programme and they joined a raft of rallying’s elite, including former world champions Marcus Grönholm, Robert Reid and Phil Mills to offer personalised tuition to Britain’s most promising rising stars in the sport.

The day was held at the Curborough Sprint Course, near Lichfield and gave members of the Elite and Academy levels an opportunity to learn from the current, fulltime, WRC competitors from the Stobart squad.

Wilson offered tuition to his fellow Brits by sitting one-to-one with each Academy driver in an M-Sport prepared Ford Fiesta ST and gave advice on driving technique and car setup as the young rally hopefuls sped across a purpose-build training stage. He then provided feedback to each driver offering recommendations pertaining to their individual driving styles.

Martin then took pairings out on the open roads to help refine their pacenoting skills in a typical reconnaissance environment. He then provided each driver and co-driver with individual feedback after the recce exercise was complete.

The next event for the Stobart outfit commences in two weeks time as the 12th round of the WRC takes teams to Spain for RallyRACC Catalunya – Rally de España.
