Ford leads from start to finish to dominate Rally GB
BP–Ford World Rally Team dominated Rally GB, final round of the FIA World Rally Championship, to finish first and second with its Focus RS World Rally Cars today.
Focus RS cars won every one of the 17 speed tests, covering 360km, in the forests of south Wales.
It was Ford’s first 1–2 finish in Britain since 1979.
Last month Ford claimed its second successive manufacturers’ title with the Focus RS WRC.
Drivers Marcus Grönholm and Mikko Hirvonen each completed more than 5600km of flat out driving this season without a single retirement due to mechanical failure.
Hirvonen led in Wales from start to finish to secure his third win of the season.
Grönholm, competing on his 150th and final WRC event before retiring, finished second.
