Rally Mexico Preview 2007.
Rally Mexico is the first chance for the fans and WRC competitors to experience a gravel rally in 2007. There are high hopes for Sebastian Loeb in the Citroen C4 as it will be the first real chance for the C4 to show itself upon this surface. For the Subaru team there will be huge expectations for Chris Atkinson and Petter Solberg as they will both be in the new Subaru Impreza WRC. The Subaru Team are hoping to get stuck into the championship fight. This rally will really determine how competitive the team will be this year.

Marcus Gronholm will be hoping to extend his points lead on his teammate Mikko Hirvonen but will also want to increase the gap between himself and rival Sebastian Loeb. Hirvonen will be looking forward to the challenge in Mexico and is hoping to get some solid points for him to maintain his position in the driver’s standings. BP Ford World Rally Team is hoping to maintain their lead in the manufacturers championship.

Dani Sordo after making a disappointing start to the new season is expected to bring good results in after coming fourth in this rally last year. If Citroen have any chance of catching up with Ford in the manufacturers championship then Sordo will really have to step up the pace.

Henning Solberg came fifth last year in this rally but is hoping to continue his good form from Rally Norway last month where he finished third and made it on to the podium. Although Chris Atkinson came 17th in Norway he is expected to get in the top ten for Mexico in the new Subaru and don’t forget he is a wizard on gravel rallies.

The new Munchi's Ford World Rally Team have yet to score manufacture points but they have a wide range of experience with the conditions and will use their experience to get as close as they can to the leaders. Gareth MacHale will return to rally Mexico in a new car Gronholm’s winning Focus from 2006. Gareth is hopeful to score points but also to keep and eye on his father Austin who will also be competing but in a Focus RS 03.
