Champion Doran is fifth different BRC winner
The Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship got its fifth different winner in as many events when defending champion Pat Doran (Winkleigh) took his first win of the 2010 season at Mallory Park on Sunday (August 8).

Revelling in a setup change that he said had transformed the handling of his Ford Fiesta Supercar, Doran dominated the day, setting fastest times in the qualifying heats winning both the Supercar A final and the Superfinal. “We’ve changed the setup and it’s like driving a different car, it’s fantastic and I really wasn't pushing that hard today. I'm glad to have won one at last, it’s turning into a really good championship battle,” said Doran whose win has seen him cut Andy Grant’s (Barnstaple) championship lead to just three points.

Grant ran second in the first lap of the Superfinal but was passed by Andy Scott (Dumfries) who charged into contention but was unable to catch Doran whose advantage was such that was able to ease off in the last lap and take a comfortable win.

Grant’s third place was enough for him to retain the points lead and his fourth visit to the podium this year while SuperModified class winner Jamie Lea (Wrexham) claimed fourth place overal after holding off Gareth Wood’s (Newcastle upon Tyne) Subaru Impreza for the entire Superfinal.
