JAS Motorsport at the Le Mans 24 hours with Acura LMP2
Thanks to a well-established relationship with Honda Performance Development, Honda America's motorsport department, JAS Motorsport is developing a programme to contest the European Le Mans Series with one or two ACURA ARX-01b LMP2 sportscars next year. The programme will culminate with the most prestigious race in the world: the Le Mans 24 Hours. After much success in touring car racing and rallying this is a new challenge for JAS Motorsport in the top class of endurance racing, where the Le Mans 24 Hours represents the technical and sporting pinnacle that attracts massive public and media interest.
The ACURA LMP2, developed by HPD at Santa Clarita with technical cooperation from Wirth Research, has been the most successful sportscar in its class since its first appearance in the 2007 American Le Mans Series.
In 2009 the ACURA has dominated the American Le Mans Series by winning eight of the 10 events.
The new JAS ACURA programme is currently being presented to drivers and sponsors. The first target is to finalise the necessary budget before the end of the year.
