2009 Swift Sport Cup is GO!
After further successful meetings with Suzuki GB, the MSA British Rally Championship can now reveal its support structure for the 2009 Swift Sport Cup.The 2009 Champion will take a prize drive on the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, the Rally of Scotland, at the end of November.
In addition there will be on event prize money offering cash awards for the top seven cars on each event with the top placed driver taking £500, £300 for second, £200 for third and £100 for the remainder of finishers down to seventh place.
The support package will include on-event support from Monster Sport Europe, which will attend each of the events with a parts truck and technical assistance for Swift Sport competitors.
Seven drivers have already registered for the MSA British Rally Championship’s Swift Sport Cup one-make series so far:
Nicolas Everard
David Harrison
Gordon Nichol
Luke Pinder

Richard Sykes
Molly Taylor
The series will also enjoy TV coverage on Sky Sports’ BRC Rallyzone programme and have its own dedicated website. The highest place Junior driver will receive an automatic nomination to the Pirelli Star Driver shootout, with all registered drivers eligible for nomination at any time during the six events.
Championship Manager Mark Taylor said “It’s been a challenging time since Suzuki Motor Corporation announced the world wide suspension of its motorsport activities. Between us, we have created a rescue package which keeps the championship alive and healthy. If you speak to anyone who has driven on of these diminutive cars then you will hear that they are great fun to drive and competitive too. The BRC is also committed to a Swift Sport Cup for 2010 and we are already in discussions to ensure that the series continues to grow in popularity.”
Ian Robinson, formerly of Suzuki GB, will continue to be involved and provide co-ordination between competitors and the Championship on each of the six events that make up the 2009 Series.
Augmenting the presence of the Swift Sport Cup rally village, each registered competitor will be issued with a Swift Sport Cup awning and groundsheet for their use throughout the season.
Competitors interested in competing in the Championship should be aware that there is a range of eligible Cup cars still available, ranging from brand new ones, to one year old models run by MSE in the 2009 series. These can be viewed by appointment at Monster Sport Europe inMilton Keynes.
