New Belgian team Symtech Racing is taking off
Symtech Racing takes over the activities of Syms Europe

The beginning of this month saw the birth of Symtech Racing. This "motorsports company" is the brainchild of Wim De Boeck and Dirk Van der Sluys and will continue to a large extend the activities of the Syms Europe rally team.

Wim De Boeck and Dirk Van der Sluys are no strangers to motorsports. Both have worked in the industry for many years. Wim has been involved with STT, Future World, Racing for Belgium and Syms Europe and has worked for years in the PWRC, Belgian Rally Championship, European Rally Championship and in Rally America. Dirk gained his experience wearing the badges of Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Honda, Syms Europe and has been involved in the Ypres Rally, the JWRC, the IRC and the WTCC. Both decided to collaborate and aim to make Symtech Racing a front runner in motorsports.

Wim De Boeck : "The idea is that Symtech Racing will be active in motorsports in the wider sense of the word. We will indeed rent out rally cars, Subaru gr.N cars in a first instance, but we will go much further than that. We also look at Super 2000 and R3 cars, circuit racing and even historic rallying. One of our core activities will still be the manufacturing of spare parts for the new gr.N Subaru rallycars. We will distribute a wide range of outstanding motorsports parts, amongst which also the Syms parts, and we will develop some parts ourselves. Besides that, we will also provide technical advice to teams and even hire out some of our expert personnel. Everything will be explained in detail on our new website soon."

Dirk Van der Sluys : "After 25 years in motorsports time had come to set up my own company. The Belgian companies working in the industry have always had an advantage because of their central location, their language skills and technical know-how. We retain the relation with Syms itself and as such we will be able to bank on their experience and product development. We are very hopeful that we will be able to establish Symtech Racing as key player in motorsport within a short period of time."

Symtech Racing will employ its own full-time engineer start straight away. The Brit Darren Papworth has already been seen at Mardi Gras Motorsport, M-Sport, MLP, Prodrive and Syms Europe. His knowledge, experience and wide network of relations will sure be a value-add to the new outfit.

Symtech Racing will be based in very well equiped workshops in Grobbendonk near Herentals (Belgium) and over the next few weeks they will announce what programmes they will participate in for the 2009 season.
