No snow, but Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres play crucial role in Rally Ireland results
Sligo, Ireland, Feb 1st, 2009. Pirelli has for years being promoting to its customers the advantages of fitting winter tyres for wintry weather, not necessarily waiting for snow to fall before considering them.

All of the drivers and team managers involved in Rally Ireland came away from the event totally convinced of the point!

Faced with torrential rain and temperatures in the range 4° to 10°, it soon became apparent that the Pirelli Sottozero tyre was the tyre to use.

Its thermal compound allowed the tyres to reach a good working temperature whilst its deeply cut tread pattern fought for grip on the flooded roads.

As ever, when conditions are tough, class shows and Rally Ireland was no exception.

Sebastien Loeb in his Citroen C4 WRC gave a masterful driving demonstration to his fellow competitors, winning with a margin of over 1 minute on his team-mate Sordo and over 2 minutes ahead of Hirvonen in the leading Ford.
