Record-breaking ford Focus hits top gear on Rally Japan
Reigning world champion ford maintained its challenge for a third consecutive manufacturers' title with a one-two finish on Rally Japan with the Focus RS World Rally Car.With one round remaining in the 15-event FIA World Rally Championship, BP ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team lies 11 points from the lead.
A maximum 18 are available from the final round in Great Britain on 4 - 7 December.
Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen took top honours in Japan, leading home team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila by 31.1 after three days of demanding gravel competition.
It completed a hat-trick of 1-2 finishes for the team following similar successes in Sweden and Turkey earlier in the season.
