Companc changes co-driver for Acropolis Rally
FIA World Rally ChampionshipBP Ultimate Acropolis Rally, 31May-3 June 2007
News update
Luis Perez Companc, lead driver for the Munchi’s Ford World Rally Team, will be co-driven by Jose Diaz on this weekend’s BP Ultimate Acropolis Rally. Regular co-driver Jose Volta has been sidelined after injuring his ribs when the pair crashed out of Rally Sardinia two weeks ago.
It was hoped that Volta would recover in time to take his place alongside Companc but unfortunately he has not returned to full fitness ahead of the rough and tough Greek round of the World Rally Championship.
Diaz, however, is well up to the challenge. The 22-year-old from Villa Carlos Paz, in Argentina, has attended all of the events contested by the Munchi’s Team this season and is relishing the opportunity to co-drive with one of his nation’s finest rally stars.
This will be his third WRC start as a co-driver, having contested Rally Argentina twice previous, and has co-driven in the past for the nephew of Juan Pablo Raies; Munchi’s Team driver for their first three events this year.
